Job PostingThe University of Connecticut (UConn) Counseling and Mental Health Services (CMHS) invites applications and nominations for the position of Counseling & Mental Health Services, Student Health Services (SHS) Psychiatrist 2, UCP 12. CMHS is seeking a dynamic psychiatric practitioner to care for college students and to collaborate with a team of equally engaged professionals in innovating integrated care models for collegiate mental health.

Under the general direction of the Counseling and Mental Health Services Director, this position functions as a member of CMHS and conducts all services in accordance with CMHS policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The SHS Psychiatrist is responsible for providing integrated treatment planning, including assessment, psychopharmacology, emergency care and psychiatric medical consulting to a broad and diverse student population. A visionary professional in this position will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team that is developing innovative models of care to address increasingly complex and acute needs of a large diverse campus population. Attractive candidates will demonstrate a history of investment in training, scholarship, mental health education in addition to excellent direct clinical care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    MD, or DO degreeSatisfactory completion of an approved residency in psychiatryBoard certification in psychiatry, or will attain board certification in psychiatry within one-two years after hire.Evidence of good diagnostic skills and the clinical versatility for a University health setting.Current CT liscense (or by start date), as well as Federal DEA number and state controlled substance registration.Current CPR/AED certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Previous university or college counseling center experience.
APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is an approximately 21-hour/week position (UCPEA 12), offered at 10-months; during the academic year, with some flexibility to consider a longer contract.The incumbent must meet Connecticut State Department of Public Health CME requirements for licensure.
