Job Type: Career Department Name: 4100-ADMINISTRATIVE INFORMATION SYSTEMS Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: Reporting to the Administrative Vice Chancellor, the AVC, IT Services and CIO is the senior-most technology officer of UCLA, responsible for providing strategic vision and operational leadership to IT Services and its partner IT organizations campuswide. The AVC, IT Services and CIO role is accountable for technology systems and solutions across the University in partnership with academic, research, and administrative organizations.

The Associate Vice Chancellor, Information Technology Services is responsible for the delivery of a full spectrum of information technology (IT) products and services to the UCLA campus enterprise, including application services, infrastructure services, networking and communication services, enterprise systems project management, information security, middleware and data warehouse services. Directs the development of cost effective, secure IT strategies and solutions that support the business needs of the university. Collaborates closely with University leadership across campus organizations to establish value-added IT services using innovative, cost-effective technologies that improve business efficiency and effectiveness. Fosters a cohesive, collaborative and innovative, high-performing, diverse work environment that respects contributions of leadership, faculty, and staff. Participates and serves as UCLA's lead in University of California systemwide IT programs, projects, and initiatives and identifies opportunities for cross-campus collaboration for development of effective centralized IT solutions and services. Directs the development of requests for proposals; participates in the evaluation and selection of cost efficient, leading edge technologies; manages institutional vendor relationships; collaborates with IT leadership across the campus, including the Business Transformation Office and UCLA Health IT Services, and other academic and administrative organizations.

The CIO will have demonstrated strong relationship-building skills to foster a productive and positive culture among ITS and its campus partners, as well as a commitment to growing and developing staff within the ITS organization. The CIO is expected to establish UCLA as a leader in higher education technology at a global level. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm function checkForSelectedStatus(){ return true;} Qualifications for Position 14 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred Demonstrated skill in leading a large-scale, cross functional information technology organization encompassing application development, networking, data centers, technical support services, middleware, information security, voice services and supporting administrative functions. Required Ability to direct large information technology organization and functions; develop and direct information technology strategies. Required Demonstrated experience with managing fiscal resources for an IT organization; develops budget, conducts forecasting and variance analysis; utilizes financial concepts such as return on investment. Required Demonstrated business acumen to develop and manage effective professional relationships with staff, business partners, stakeholders and senior executives across an enterprise. Required Expert knowledge of program and project management methodologies and tools; track record of success in managing large, complex, enterprise-wide IT projects. Required Ability to direct complex projects and programs, establish project estimates; ability to ensure projects are delivered within budget and using resources efficiently and effectively. Required Demonstrated experience in leading large teams, overseeing managers and fostering growth and development of a diverse staff. Required Demonstrated success in applying emerging technologies and innovations to improve the ability to deliver products and/or services more effectively. Required Strong verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems OR equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. Required Advanced degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Preferred Successful experience working within Higher Education Information Technology.
