Job Summary Requisition Number: 29288 Job Title: ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY SPECIALIST I Working Title: EH&S Specialist I - Environmental Program Salary: $4842 - $9591 monthly Job Type: Career Department Name: 3401-ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: Under general direction of the Environmental Health and Compliance Programs Manager, at the UCLA Office of Environment, Health & Safety, assist with implementation of the Certified Unified Program Agencies (CUPA), Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBP).

Primary responsibilities include creating a full campus mapping scheme for buildings and floorplans that will be submitted to the State California Environmental Reporting System (CERS) and Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) as the lead regulatory agencies; collecting and/or auditing hazardous materials inventory data for the campus; maintaining recordkeeping systems; preparing regulatory reports; and CUPA annual reporting. Additional responsibilities will include coordination with UCLA Fire and UCLA Emergency Management for Maximum Allowable Quantity (MAQ) determinations, coordinating with UCLA Chemical and Bio Safety Divisions for Principal Investigator and research use of hazardous materials, and review of any Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) requirements applicable to UCLA. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm function checkForSelectedStatus(){ return true;} Qualifications for Position 11 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred Bachelor's degree in chemistry, environmental science, data management or related fields of study or an equivalent combination of education & experience. Required Strong demonstrated experience and background in CUPA HMBP mapping functions and software. Required Familiarity with underground storage tank reporting under CUPA & CERS. Required Ability to analyze complex technical data, write technical reports, for campus management and regulatory agencies; ability to prepare permit applications for regulatory agencies including, but not limited to, CERS and Los Angeles Fire Department. Required Ability to manage data and learn data management systems and mapping systems, and integrate information from multiple sources/platforms. Required Working knowledge of HMBP environmental laws, rules, and regulations, ability to research and interpret rules and regulations; ability to establish policies and procedures for campus departments. Required Interpersonal skills to work with campus stakeholders in establishing campus systems for regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship. Required Strong writing skills to research and develop technical reports and correspondence that are grammatically correct, succinct and accurate. Required Oral communications skills to develop and give informational, succinct, concise and engaging oral presentation to diverse audiences. Required Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff members, administrators, managers, subordinates, faculty, and regulatory agencies. Required Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate).
