Job Summary Requisition Number: 29321 Job Title: FACILITIES MECHANIC Working Title: Facilities Mechanic - CC Shop Salary: $28.49 hourly Job Type: Career Department Name: 3415-MAINTENANCE AND ALTERATIONS Department Website URL: Job Summary Statement: Under the general supervision of the Manager of the Carpentry Shop and through direct written and verbal work assignments from Supervising Carpenter, Lead Carpenter(s) and/or Journey-level Carpenter(s), perform routine and semi-skilled tasks to repair/install a variety of carpentry-related projects including: repairing wall partitions; floors and/or ceiling systems; metal stud framing; re-hang doors; installation of metal window frames; wall insulation; hang drywall; install all types of door hardware including panic hardware; scaffolding; and special projects to achieve maximum performance efficiency of operation and quality workmanship on a daily basis. Perform other related duties such as operating and maintaining a variety of power or hand tools; transporting materials and personnel to and from job sites; cleaning up job site and returning equipment; and following all safety procedures. Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment. Work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direct supervision. Oversee and provide direction to crew on job sites. Working knowledge of various power and hand tools, methods, and materials of the Carpentry trade. Required 2. Working knowledge of standard safety practices and equipment used related to the Carpentry trade. Required 3. Ability to perform routing and semi-skilled Carpentry tasks in the maintenance, alteration, and repair of campus buildings, related facilities, and equipment. Required 4. Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with other trades. Required 5. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers, clients, managers, and the campus community. Required 6. Skill in reading standard English text in order to follow through on written orders and carry out assignments. Required 7. Oral communication skills to obtain and convey clear, concise, and grammatically correct information. Required 8. Skill in writing simple English phrases using correct grammar and spelling to complete reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend. Required 9. Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Required 10. Ability to work independently, with minimal direct supervision, and/or assign crews and follow through on assignments. Required 11. Ability to work overtime or various shifts as needed. Required 12. Ability to stand, crawl, walk, and stop; push and pull; lift and lower objects weighing up to 50 lbs., or 80 lbs. with assistance. Required 13. Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in wet or humid weather, and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures and/or adverse situations and conditions (e.g. dirty, noisy, etc.). Required 14. Ability to consistently report to work, on time, prepared to perform the duties of the position. Required 15. Must possess California Driver's License Class C and ability to drive a University truck or light vehicle in the course of performing job duties.
