The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine invites applications for appointment in either the Professor of Clinical “X” series, or the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor Rank. Duties will include directing the Radiation Oncology Residency Program.

Applicants must possess an M.D. degree (or equivalent), be board certified in Radiation Oncology (or eligible by time of appointment), and hold an unrestricted CA medical license (by time of appointment). Successful candidates will possess superior “people” skills and an aspiration to be a leader in the field though independent research, teaching, and/or innovation. Successful candidates will also have experience in all aspects of Radiation Oncology (including Brachytherapy), inpatient and outpatient care, and the development of both clinical programs and investigational trials. Skills conducive to practice-building will be especially valued, as well as an ability to work collaboratively within and outside of the Department. Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series:
The incumbent will be expected to direct patient care conduct substantial and meaningful research; teach residents and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is an essential criterion for appointment in this series. Priority will be given to candidates with a proven track record of academic productivity, as demonstrated through high-impact publications, thematic-based research, and/or grant funding.

Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series:
The incumbent will be expected to direct patient care; teach resident and medical students; participate in research and/or creative work; and perform public and University service.

The Department features a fully-accredited four-year Radiation Oncology residency training program (ACGME certified), and a Medical Physics training program (CAMPEP certified). The Department also has an active Radiation Biology Division equipped with a full range of laboratory resources and currently ranks in the upper tier with respect to NIH funding. The Department participates in NRG/RTOG, SWOG, and NSABP.

Located at the University of California, Irvine Medical Center in Orange, California, the Department is an integral part of the NCI-designated Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and recently recruited a new Chair of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Allen Chen. The Department is equipped with 3 linear accelerators, Brilliance CT-simulator with 4DCT, a dedicated HDR brachytherapy suite, and an intraoperative unit. Multimodality imaging for treatment planning (MR, PET-CT) is readily accessible and in routine clinical use. Further equipment upgrades are planned in the next two years.
