Assistant Director of Residential Education

Job description

The Assistant Director will work closely with colleagues in the Office of Residential Life and across the Bowdoin campus to oversee various aspects of a vibrant and wide- ranging residential program. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for the Peer Health program including selection of Peer Health members and implementation of a robust peer-led health and wellness residential education program. The Assistant Director shares responsibility for the implementation and selection of Bowdoin's College House leadership program; assists the hiring, support, and evaluation of the student proctor/RA staff; participates in the dean-on-call rotation, and administers basic student conduct cases. In addition, the Assistant Director supports First-year programs, the annual room lottery, and other departmental initiatives. This is a live-in position which includes an apartment in a campus residence.

A Bachelor's degree is required. Applicants must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to set and balance multiple priorities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in living and working closely with undergraduates, and will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. The ability to thrive in a dynamic student-centered environment and a good sense of humor are key.
