The Administrative Faculty- Cultural and Family Psychology (CFP) teaches a minimum of 9 units per academic year and coordinates the MFT and BA Community Psychology academic programs at the San Jose Branch Campus. This position requires professionalism, diplomacy, discretion and integrity in all areas of responsibility. The position represents the School of Cultural and Family Psychology while cultivating and maintaining positive working relationships with key people and entire departments throughout the College, our community partners and the Board of Behavioral Sciences. The responsibilities of this position extend toward greater service to the College.
This position is located in San Jose and reports directly to the Dean of School of Cultural and Family Psychology and to the Campus Dean in San Jose. This administration faculty position with oversee the MA-MFT program and BA in Community Psychology program at the Pacific Oaks College San Jose campus.
- Coordinating the working relationship with the clinical agencies in the community, and working within the guidelines set forth by the BBS and Pacific Oaks College. Supports the Clinical Training Coordinator with monitoring student document submission.
- Maintaining alignment with current BBS guidelines and protocols for MFT students
- Collaborate closely with the dean and lead faculty of all MFT programs in the department, in order to individualize the experience of the students in each MFT program.
- Collaborate with agency Directors and Clinical Supervisors to support POC-MFT students as trainees, build new community relationships for practicum sites and support student’s clinical supervision.
- Assist with information sessions/workshops for prospective students.
- Support Clinical Training Coordinator with scheduling and coordinating Agency Forums/Practicum Fairs for agency representatives to present their clinical training programs to our MFT students.
- Participate on Institutional Planning and Policy Committees as needed, in additional to Faculty Council committees.
- Assists the Clinical Training Coordinator with student evaluations for annual program review documentation and maintenance of documentation in accordance with BBS license eligibility.
- Participate in quarterly MFT Consortium meetings representing POC.
- Coordinate, review and assist students with their applications for the MFT State and County Stipend programs, in conjunction with the department CTC
- In collaboration with the faculty advisors assist all students on an individual basis through the process of completing all prerequisites needed to be awarded the MFT Trainee status.
- Be familiar with Community Psychology curriculum.
- Assists in recruiting, orienting, and training adjunct faculty.
- Supports the student registration process for on-campus courses each semester.
- Monitors students who withdraw from courses and improves processes to increase retention; monitors registrations to ensure accuracy in academic advising.
- Utilizes Microsoft Office, CampusVue, and Canvas to produce documents and interpret data; monitors online orientation completion and continually reviews and updates the content.
- Assists in the inventory, ordering and distribution of instructor material.
- Assists in compiling book order, stocking books, and book inventories. Works with Program Manager on master book list.
- Serves as a faculty advisor and advises assigned students and maintains student academic records and files to ensure they represent an accurate, complete and current account of student’s academic progress.
- Serves on faculty committee(s), college committees and Faculty Council.
- Participation in orientation information sessions, MFT admission interviews, program planning and faculty trainings.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Understanding of culturally attuned clinical work and supervision for culture centered MFT programs.
- Must have excellent communication, organizational, writing, and editorial and project management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with sensitivity to the needs of a diverse population.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with students, administration, faculty, adjunct faculty, professional consultants and representatives from all levels of management while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
- Understanding of all state regulations relating to the discipline of Marriage and Family Therapy, especially those regulating the clinical training of MFT graduate students.
- Ability to assure that the Clinical Training Protocol of the MFT Department is in full compliance with BBS regulations.
- Demonstrate knowledge about Community Psychology curriculum.
- Available to work a 5-day work week that may include evenings and weekend times.
- Education: doctoral degree in the mental health field or equivalency.
- Licensed in the state of California.
- Clinical or Administrative Experience in Mental Health Services: minimum 3 years.
- Clinical Supervisory experience for pre masters trainees or post masters interns preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in higher education preferred.
- Knowledge about communities and agencies in the San Jose area.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with technology such as, MS Office (Word and Excel) Go-to-Meetings, and Canvas (course management on-line platforms).
- Supervisory experience preferred.
