Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences

Salt Lake Community College invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Salt Lake Community College educates more than 60,000 students in more than 100 areas of study each year - few institutions in Utah have a more significant impact on the state's economy, workforce and education pipeline. The College contributes to, and benefits from, Utah's educational excellence - the state ranks 11th in educational attainment and 8th in quality of education.

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is one of the largest and most diverse schools on campus.
The School is comprised of the following five disciplinary clusters each presided over by an Associate Dean:

• Humanities, Language and Culture, and American Sign Language/Interpreting;
• English;
• History, Political Science, and Anthropology;
• Psychology, Sociology, and Economics;
• Family and Human Studies, Education, and Social Work.

In addition, the School consists of 89 full-time faculty, 223 part-time faculty, serving a Student FTE of 3,192.

Minimum Qualifications 	
The Dean must:
• The successful candidate must have a terminal degree or be on a defined path to receive the degree within one year of appointment.
• Be committed to the community college mission.
• Have completed seven years of full-time successful teaching within a discipline in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
• Exhibit evidence of successful administrative leadership experience in a higher education setting, such as responsibility for an academic department or a comparable academic group.
• Have a proven record of successful scholarship and experience obtaining funding.
• Demonstrate a history of innovation in their work.
• Be committed to diversity, inclusion, and be an equity-minded practitioner.
