This full-time term position, beginning April 1, 2019 and ending May 31, 2022, provides support for a variety of activities originating from an $1.1 million grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to Lake Forest College. This position will coordinate operational aspects of the grant including budget, resource management, faculty personnel, and outreach to institutional partners in the city of Chicago.  The starting salary, funded by the grant, is $47,000 per year with benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serves as key administrative contact with all faculty, students, staff, and external partners connected to the grant. 
  • Organizes meetings, trainings, events, and related programming.
  • Maintains budget records and grant databases; maintains files and records for project. 
  • Assists in the preparation of grant reports. 
  • Develops and maintains grant web presence.  
  • Assists in the coordination, supervision, and completion of new initiatives related to the grant as generated over the course of its operations.  
  • Oversees the management of resources, supplies, and equipment, including development of multi-year resource acquisition and management plans. 
  • Partners with the Center for Chicago Programs, the Office of Faculty Development, the Office of Admissions, and other campus constituencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. 3-5 years of administrative support, and project management experience required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, problem-solving skills, and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously are essential. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.  Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusiveness. Proven budget management skills and a familiarity with college environment preferred. Experience or interest in Chicago history and culture, digital humanities, archives, publishing, marketing, and related areas are a plus. Expertise in academic technology a plus.
