Major Duties and Responsibilities

THIS IS A TEMPORARY, HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS.

The Writing Center is seeking an individual with ESL teaching experience and/or TESOL certification to help AmLa and other Non-native English speaking students develop their academic language skills. The Tutor Expert Level V meets one on one with students, guides them through the writing process, and helps develop writing and revising skills.

Required Qualifications Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
•BA in English or TESOL, or related field with ESL experience/TESOL certification.
•MA in English or TESOL/TESL;
•Prior experience in a tutoring center;
•Prior experience teaching composition.

License(s) & Other Requirements

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Employees may periodically be required to operate a vehicle that necessitates possession of a valid California driver’s license. Such employees must have the ability to secure and maintain a valid California driver’s license.

It is also required that a final offer of employment will only be made after the candidate has successfully been fingerprinted and clearance for employment is authorized by the Office of Human Resources. Costs for fingerprinting services shall be borne by the candidate.
