Senior Reporting Analyst

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Sr. Reporting Analyst will serve as the technical point-of-contact for all reporting needs at the university.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing support across different functional areas and assists subject matter experts with ensuring data integrity, data integration, testing of reports and upgrades, complex report writing and analysis of data flows for process improvement opportunities.

The Sr. Reporting Analyst will be part of highly prioritized efforts to standardize, improve and streamline reporting and analytics while facilitating access to the appropriate stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a Reporting expert for Workday ad-hoc data requests.
  • Serve as a Workday Reporting subject matter expert and provide support, training and guidance to functional users for all reporting needs.
  • Responsible for maintenance, design and development of a variety of Workday reports (advanced, matrix, composite, BIRT, dashboards), as well as SQL Reporting Services reports for multiple systems.
  • Manage and execute full report development life cycle: requirement gathering, design, build, test and deploy.
  • Work directly with functional groups across various departments to provide technical support, research, troubleshoot, and resolve report-writing issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage reporting documentation, follow and advise on data standards for Workday Reporting in collaboration with other report writers.
  • Assist in the maintenance, development and troubleshooting of SQL Database repositories used to automate and generate federal and state reports.
  • Extracts existing data from multiple sources to manipulate, calculate and format into presentable reports, charts, graphs and dashboards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting understanding and increase adoption of self-service reporting capabilities across the University.
  • Research reporting issues, unexpected results, process flaws and recommend solutions based on requirements and needs.
  • Analyze data and reporting solutions to understand business impact, correlations/discrepancies, and to propose changes/alternate solutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relations with users in different functional areas.
  • Develop integration using Studio, EIB, Cloud Connect and SSIS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledgeable in Workday report writer and designer.
  • Knowledgeable in Calculated fields, Reference IDs, filter/sub filters and report prompts.
  • Experience with service enabled reporting.
  • MSSQL experience including views, stored procedures, and functions.
  • Demonstrate outstanding communication skills to translate requests into accurate reports that meet user’s deadlines.
  • Experience building Integrations using SOAP and REST API’s.
  • Self-motivated with an ability to obtain requirements, proactively solve problems and identify new opportunities.
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication, analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle change effectively while being mindful of technology, business processes, and systems implications.
  • Expert proficiency with Office productivity tools such as PowerPoint, Visio, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • SAS or Tableau analytics experience is a plus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an information technology, quantitative, scientific, or STEM related field.
  • Minimum of one year of Workday report writing experience required.
  • Minimum of one year of Workday integrations development experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in an information technology, quantitative, scientific, or STEM related field.
  • Two or more years of Workday Reporting experience
  • Experience in higher education or governmental agency

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires a criminal background check.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:       This position is non-exempt/salary exempt.  The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., however, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required.

TARGET HIRING SALARY:  $65,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience.
