The School of Education is an academic unit reporting to the Provost. The School is a major center of teaching, research and public service within the State of North Carolina, region and nation. The School offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate study, including educator preparation programs, leading to licensure in North Carolina.

The School of Education Development office is responsible for an ambitious $35 Million campaign goal during the University’s Campaign for Carolina.

The Director of Marketing and Annual Giving will be a key member of the development and external relations team. This position will develop and execute the comprehensive marketing and branding strategy for the School of Education. He/she will use communications, marketing, and digital media to tell our story and communicate the impact of our research, practice and education, recruit top students, and facilitate the School’s development efforts.

The Director of Marketing and Annual Giving will provide oversight and coordination of the direct marketing activities related to annual giving solicitations, specific fundraising projects and communications to ensure the philanthropic support of alumni, volunteers, students, faculty & staff, friends and other constituents. He/She will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive plan to demonstrate the impact and reach of philanthropic giving to the School of Education and be directly responsible for the solicitation of gifts in the $1-$9,999 range.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public relations, Communications, or related field. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:
7+ years of marketing, communications, and/or public relations and a minimum of 1 year of professional level, direct solicitation/fundraising experience required.

Preferred qualifications:
10+ years of marketing, communications, and/or public relations experience in a higher education setting
Experience in a public higher education institution
Familiarity with and knowledge of the UNC-Chapel Hill campus
