Job summary: Full-time tenure track faculty position as an undergraduate educator (Medical Surgical Nursing) - Responsibilities include curriculum/program planning, facilitating and implementing innovative teaching strategies, scholarship, and clinical practice in area of expertise (medical surgical courses). NURSU 454 Medical Surgical Nursing I is a clinical course for 2nd semester nursing students in which opportunities are provided to plan, implement, and evaluate medical and surgical interventions to prepare clients for discharge following hospital care. This course provides students with experiences that will help integrate content from previous coursework to the care of clients from diverse ethnic, cultural, and geographic backgrounds. NURSU 455 Medical Surgical Nursing II is the capstone course, designed to facilitate transition into the roles and responsibilities of the professional nurse, including an intensive clinical practicum in which the student will experience the roles of the nurse as a provider of care for multiple clients in an acute care setting, as well as a leader/manager/coordinator of care in a variety of health care settings. Critical thinking and leadership skills are applied, with an emphasis on culturally, effective communication with diverse clients, continuity of care, coordination of care, and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to provide a comprehensive plan of care for optimal client outcomes recognizing the impact of social determinants of health. Open Rank - rank will be awarded at the level of Instructor or above.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 0: Commensurate with experience.

FLSA: Salaried

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Qualifications include an earned Masters degree in Nursing, with a Doctorate in Nursing preferred. A commitment to scholarship and strong organizational and communications skills are necessary. Qualified candidates should have the following:

-Unencumbered, active license as a registered nurse in South Carolina or another compact state.

-Current BLS certification.

-Recent (2-3 years) of actual patient care and supervision of students in community health clinical settings.

-Recent (2-3 years) of course coordination, didactic teaching and test development experience.

-Demonstrated ability to create, develop and implement simulated learning modules.

-Experience in classroom as well as online teaching methods is preferred, but a motivated candidate without teaching experience who meets the educational and professional requirements will be considered.

-A record of teaching, scholarship and/or practice that merits appointment at the rank of Instructor or above.

**Candidates without a doctorate will be considered, but will be expected to be enrolled in an accredited nursing doctoral program within three years of employment.**
