Job Duties:10Capture radiographic images such as panorex, bitewings, PA''s or intra-oral camera per dentist''s request. Properly places images in MiPac''s. Educate patients regarding the diagnostic necessity of radiographic images.Essential10Maintain and sterilize all dental hygiene instruments and equipment. Ensureinstruments and supplies are maintained and stocked in dental hygiene operatory as well as other areas of DFP.Essential15Responsible for maintaining hygiene recall schedule. Contact patients toreschedule for missed and canceled appointments. Per HIPAA, maintains patient confidentiality by protecting patient information.Essential20Plan hygiene recall appointments and next restorative appointment forpatients by adding the correct planned appointment in axiUm at each visit. Refer patients for appropriate followup care recognizing conditions that warrants additional treatment.Essential35Perform comprehensive oral examinations to chart existing restorations and conditions, as well as new findings, oral cancer screening, and full periodontal probing and charting. Perform oral prophylaxis, periodontal scaling and root planing, polishing, topical application of fluoride, and oral hygiene instructions. Document all patient care activities in axiUm according to guidelines set forth by the CDM and Dental Faculty Practice Manager.Essential5Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed as well as any other duties directed by the lead hygienist or the manager of Dental Faculty Practice.Essential5Maintain infection control of dental hygiene operatory to provide safe and cleanworking environment in compliance with OSHA aswell as MUSC''s policies andprocedures.Essential

Job summary: Temporary/Part-time Dental Hygienist needed to assist in the James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine Dental Faculty Practice.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 6: $39,960.00 - $56,947.00 - $73,935.00 (min - mid - max)

FLSA: Non Exempt (Hourly)

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: An associate degree in dental hygiene and licensure by the South Carolina State Board of Dentistry and one year of related experience. Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays. (Special Hire Rate - $37,468)
