Job Duties:10Captures radiographic images such as panorex, bitewings, PA's or intra-oral camera per dentist's request. Properly places images in MiPac's. Educate patients regarding the diagnostic necessity of radiographic images.Essential10Responsible for following through with patient's lab cases from sending to receiving. Contacts lab with inquiries when needed. Pours and trims study casts; checks on status of implant parts ordered and delivered; Maintains order and cleanliness of dental labEssential15Maintains infection control of dental operatory as well as other areas of the dental office to provide a safe and clean working environment in compliance with OSHA as well as MUSC's policies and proceduresEssential20Maintains and sterilizes all dental instruments and equipment. Ensure instruments and supplies are maintained and stocked in dental operatory as well as other areas of DFP.Essential35Responsible for chairside assisting for general and specialty dentists using four handed dentistry as well as assisting with other areas of patient care by following prescribed procedures and protocols. Document and maintain all patient care activities in axiUm according to guidelines set forth by the CDM, lead assistant and Dental Faculty Practice manager. Job summary: Assists dentist in four handed dentistry, prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols. Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient. Provides information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests. Provides instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments. Provides materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments and in the patient's mouth. Provides diagnostic information by exposing and developing radiographic studies in MiPac's; pouring, trimming, and polishing study casts. Maintains patient appearance and ability to masticate by fabricating temporary restorations; cleaning and polishing removable appliances. Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory. Document and maintain in the patient's Electronic Health Record. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with OSHA's procedures, rules, and regulations. Protects patients and employees by adhering to MUSC's infection-control policies and protocols. Maintains dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed as well as any other duties directed by the Manager of Dental Faculty Practice.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 4: $26,988.00 - $38,460.00 - $49,932.00 (min - mid - max)

FLSA: Hourly

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of formal training in an American Dental Association accredited dental assistance course and four years of dental assisting experience; or a high school diploma and five years of dental assisting experience. Certification in Radiation Safety required for positions responsible for dental x-rays. (Special Hire Rate)
