The primary research focus is the MAJORANA collaboration’s efforts to search for the neutrinoless double-beta decay of 76Ge using an array of HPGe detectors where the UNC group is playing a major role. The group is also actively involved in the KATRIN tritium beta-decay neutrino mass experiment currently being constructed in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Educational RequirementsPhD in physics
Qualifications and ExperienceExperience in experimental nuclear, particle or astrophysics, and an established record of research excellence.
