A postdoctoral position is available immediately in our laboratory in the Department of Medicine, Thurston Arthritis Research Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our research focuses on myeloid cell biology in autoimmunity and inflammation. Ongoing projects involve investigating the mechanisms by which myeloid cells regulate T and B cell function, vascular dendritic cell function, and inflammatory cell migration and function in the bone marrow, lymphoid organs, and disease targeted tissues using models autoimmune arthritis and atherosclerosis. Our ultimate goal is to decipher cellular and molecular events that initiate and perpetuate autoimmune/inflammatory diseases and identify new therapeutic approaches.

Educational Requirements

PhD in Immunology, Molecular/Cell Biology, or a closely related discipline. The candidate must have graduated from an accredited US institution and has at least one first author publication.

Qualifications and Experience

A strong background in immunology, autoimmune and inflammatory disease models, handling primary myeloid and lymphoid cells including isolation, culture, and functional assays, flow cytometry, real-time RT-PCR, ELISA/Luminex, immunochemical and live cell imaging are required. Experience with gene array analysis is a plus. Highly self-motivated individual who can multi-task and work independently is encouraged to apply.
