PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Assisting the State Extension Specialist for Aquaculture to develop, conduct, and deliver aquaculture research-based educational programs.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The successful applicant will support the mission of the State Extension Specialist for Aquaculture including work in the aquaculture disease diagnostic laboratory, farm and home visits, on-farm demonstrations, and writing educational materials. He/she will provide technical advice, assistance and educational programs for clients and County Extension professionals throughout Kentucky. The Extension Associate will write research-based articles and publications to educate clients in various areas of aquaculture.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The successful candidate will work in the aquaculture disease diagnostic laboratory, make farm and home visits, set up and conduct on-farm demonstrations, and write educational materials. He/she will provide research-based advice and recommendations to residents of Kentucky and surrounding states and to Extension professionals in the University of Kentucky/Kentucky State University Land Grant System. The Extension Associate will also write research-based articles and publications to educate clients in various areas of aquaculture.
QUALIFICATIONS: A Master of Science degree in aquaculture or a closely related field is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Knowledge, skills and abilities in production of fish and other aquatic organisms will be needed as well as some knowledge of microbiology laboratory skills.
