Job Description

POSITION:P.O.W.E.R TESTING ASSISTANT TPNTSC-POWER1
STATUS:Part time / Seasonal / No SURS (5-15 hours per week)
DEPARTMENT:Fitness Center
DIVISION:Academic Affairs
CLASSIFICATION:Non-exempt
UNION:Non-union
REPORTS TO:Fitness Center Coordinator
PLACEMENT: Temporary/Seasonal
MINIMUM PAY RATE:$22.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
Evaluates the fitness ability of those seeking the POWER testing. Assists Fitness Center Coordinator with the scheduling, planning and running of POWER tests. Ensures the overall quality of the POWER program by ensuring participants adhere to and understand the established rules and assessment criteria of the POWER test.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Evaluate possible candidates for the police academies through the administration of the Police Officers Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) and provide the necessary documentation.
2.Develop and maintain clear communications with police departments to inform them of the procedures for POWER testing.
3.Schedule equipment repairs when necessary and do preventative maintenance, when possible.
4.Develop promotional materials for the POWER program, including web materials and flyers.
5.Work with a candidate’s physician if a specific health issue needs to be addressed.
6.Provide first aid when necessary.
7.Take pictures of candidates and process / print POWER cards.
8.Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.Three (3) years of work experience in fitness center operations or a field directly related to POWER testing.
2.Qualified personal trainer or police officer.
3.Must be CPR certified (within 30 days of employment).
4.Proven ability to prioritize assignments and work in a very busy, loud, fun environment; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
5.Proficiency with Windows and comfortable using computers.
6.Must be friendly, honest, outgoing individual and enjoy working with a diverse population.
7.Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
8.Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

WORK SCHEDULE
Variable, 7:30pm- 7:30 pm (MTWRF); will include some weekends

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1.Fitness Center/Physical Education environment and equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.Requires manual skill to appropriately control and manipulate objects, tools, materials, and equipment used on the job, including a telephone and a computer.
