Department College of Medicine - Finance & Administration, Accounting ServicesResponsibilities Performs analysis, special projects and reporting of the College of Medicine’s (COM) business activities. Manages all aspects of Auxiliary operations from rate development, audit, reporting, budget entry and management, etc. Serves as expert for the College related to travel, procurement, auxiliary and Foundation financial transactions and rules and regulations.

Performs analysis of the COM's uniquely independent, diverse and geographically expansive business activities by ensuring the integrity of the data and reports and creating informational databases as necessary. Collects and analyzes data; develops and conducts special studies; assists in the preparation of varied monthly, quarterly, annual and other financial reports, financial projections and cost analysis studies; and coordinates presentations.

Responsible for performing complex analysis functions and approving financial transactions for accuracy, allowability and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsible for analyzing, auditing and approving COM travel transactions (COM pre-travel forms, travel authorizations and reimbursements) prior to and after travel occurs, including use of appropriate chartfields and appropriate internal forms to ensure allowability, funding availability, and compliance with Florida Travel Statute.

Serves as budget manager for current and future Educational, COM Scientific and Technical Research Auxiliary operations (MRI, Translational Science Lab, MED Stockroom, etc.). Responsible for all related financial matters, including analysis of data, preparation and submission of applications, rate development, audits and rate adjustments, budget entry in Hyperion, revenue billing (internal and external users), analysis of revenues and expenditures, and reporting.

Serves as Property Manager for the COM, acting as liaison to the COM main campuses, six regional campuses and training sites through Florida and Thomasville, GA. Supervises one position providing day-to-day guidance and coordinates activities and staff in the COM complex cost accounting environment related to FSU Foundation disbursement, deposit and new fund forms and property management. Responsible for assigning, monitoring and adjusting workload and assignments, approving time and leave, making hiring decisions, training staff and completing performance evaluations.

Develops, interprets and implements new fiscal/accounting policies and procedures to streamline processes and ensure accuracy of data. Designs, develops and conducts special projects and studies and recommends improvements geared to effectively manage fiscal, accounting administration and property management.Qualifications Bachelor's degree and two years of experience related to the duties of the job. (Note: higher education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)

Experience planning, organizing, and prioritizing work assignments.
Experience gathering, interpreting, reporting, and/or editing information.
Experience evaluating process effectiveness and developing change or alternatives.
Experience training and supervising employees.
Experience with applicable computer applications and basic computer functions to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, or comparable software.Preferred Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of and experience with OMNI/Peoplesoft applications including travel, queries, reporting and auxiliary billing.
Knowledge of and experience with FSU Foundation disbursements, gift and non-gift transmittals and web reports.
Experience identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Experience documenting existing and new processes.
Experience with data analysis techniques and methodology.
Experience with budget practices.
