Description:

The Department of Music at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time, two-year postdoctoral fellowship in ethnomusicology with a specialty in Caribbean, South American, and/or Latinx musics. The fellowship is a two-year appointment and begins August 2019. A completed PhD in Ethnomusicology or Musicology at time of appointment (August 2019) is required. Postdoctoral fellows teach three courses per year. Specific courses to be taught must meet the needs of the Department and will be determined in consultation with the Department. Courses will be introductory in nature (including 100-level and 200-level). Applicants should have an interest in teaching courses in their field of expertise (at a level accessible to bright and engaged undergraduate liberal arts students) as well as an interest in teaching a general course on world music. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated interest in collaborating with faculty and students from across the campus, particularly with the Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies program. Curricular offerings in one or more of the three areas of the program is strongly preferred. Fellows are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College’s published policies. The appointment offers a competitive salary and includes full benefits.


Qualifications:

Completed PhD in Ethnomusicology or Musicology at time of appointment (August 2019).

Demonstrated commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field.
