Job Purpose: Serve as subject matter expert and advisor within a college or an academic unit on matters related to sponsored research program administration in accordance with Institute and sponsor policies. Assist faculty with pre- and post- award grant activities including budget development, proposal preparation, sub-award initiation and accounting, and advising department financial staff on issues related post-award grant management.

 

Major Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist faculty with budget development and proposal preparation for grant requests. Read solicitations, proof and edit proposal documents, prepare forms and all required paperwork.
  • Enter proposals into sponsor systems and route proposals to Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP).
  • Assist faculty with post-award management, particularly sub-award initiation and accounting.
  • Liaise with management and staff with OSP and Grants & Contracts Accounting regarding sponsored research grants and contracts issues.
  • Provide advice and counsel to the Assistant Director of Business Operations and departmental finance staff regarding issues related to sponsored research plans, proposals and projects
  • May coordinate with faculty on deliverables and financial reports.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Work Experience: Five to seven years job related experience
  • Certifications: Certified Research Administrator, Certified Pre-Award Research Administrator, or Certified Financial Research Administrator
  • Skills: This job requires familiarity with the grant proposal process and government budget circulars; ability to interpret and explain complex policies and government language; excellent writing and communication skills.
