Molecular biologist/protein scientist/enzymologist is needed to work with a team of co-investigators including Charles Carter (Biochemistry and Biophysics), Rihe Liu (Medicinal Chemistry) and Eric Brustad (Chemistry) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a project entitled “Templated Cross-Catalysis by Oligonucleotides and Oligopeptides” recently funded by the Templeton Foundation via the Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution (Ffame). We wish to demonstrate and quantitatively measure the catalysis by polypeptides and elongation reactions on RNA substrates, and reciprocally, catalysis of peptide ligation and elongation reactions of polypeptides.

Educational Requirements

PhD in Biological Sciences is preferred

Qualifications and Experience

Experimental experience in biocatalysis and in the analysis of peptide and protein:nucleic acid interactions would be preferred. UNC Chapel Hill provides a collaborative and stimulating environment for this project, as well as close ties to numerous technologies associated with protein design and combinatorial therapeutic generation.
