The Undergraduate Business Program (UBP) is one of the largest academic programs within UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School with an enrollment of approximately 1,000 business majors and minors. The Undergraduate Business Program Office provides academic and student development services for current and prospective students, as well as faculty and staff. Specific services include: prospective student recruitment and admissions; academic services, including academic advising, course scheduling, and graduation; new student orientation; student life and engagement programs, such as student clubs and organizations, case competitions and other community-building opportunities; study abroad and other global program experiences; and career development programs.

The Assistant Director, Undergraduate Business Employer Relations will work collaboratively across UNC Kenan-Flagler programs (i.e., MBA and Master of Accounting), as well as with staff administrators at the business school and the University to manage the recruiting process and to build positive, long-term relationships with employers. He/She will identify, plan and deliver a portfolio of high-touch stakeholder-oriented experiences to: i) increase the number of potential internship and employment opportunities for undergraduate business students, ii) elevate the quality of interactions among internal and external stakeholders, and iii) advance the business school’s brand with employers, corporate partners and alumni. This position independently manages all aspects of employer recruiting activities related to undergraduate business students for a large segment of existing employers and, to a lesser extent with a portion of targeted prospective employers. Additionally, the Assistant Director will act as a staff advisor to selected student clubs, assist in coordinating classroom speaking opportunities for employers at UNC Kenan-Flagler and manage the analysis of student outcomes data and the creation of related recruiting materials. This position will report to the Associate Director of Career Development.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, Master’s degree preferred but not required. All degrees must be from accredited institutions.

Qualifications and Experience

-3-years of previous work experience in either recruiting at a university and/or for an employer (e.g., corporation or other business entity) or in sales and/or relationship management
-Excellent project management, planning, leadership and analytical skills
-Comfort with proactively reaching out to contacts (including cold-calling) and a track-record of establishing and maintaining positive client/customer relationships
-High attention to detail
-Flexible work style and ability to navigate multiple tasks under competing deadlines and shifting priorities
-Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
-Willingness to assume new tasks and special projects
-Superior oral and written communication skills and a communicative approach to project coordination
-Strong capabilities with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
-Experience with Handshake and Salesforce is preferred but not required
-Supportive of implementing and promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives
-Ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends as needed (particularly during peak recruiting seasons of August through November and January through February)

Location: UNC is located in the heart of Chapel Hill, the best college town in America! It's a friendly town of about 40,000 in the geographical center of North Carolina. Chapel Hill is at the western point of the Research Triangle, an area of about one million people, comprised of Chapel Hill, the cities of Durham and Raleigh, and the Research Triangle Park, home of many corporate offices and scientific research centers. Carolina Computing Initiative: Beginning with the freshman class of 2000, undergraduates must purchase laptop computers. The University has arranged for IBM to offer computers at excellent prices.
