Job Summary Requisition Number: 28482 Job Title: PROGRAMMER/ANALYST III Working Title: Programmer Analyst Salary: $5,234 - $10,358 monthly Job Type: Contract Department Name: 5565-SUMMER SESSION & INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION Department Website URL: https://summer.ucla.edu/ Job Summary Statement: Under the general supervision of the Information Systems Director for the division of Summer Sessions and International Education, the incumbent will work on converting the current complex, custom-designed and mission critical web based applications from Cold Fusion to .NET C# MVC based on requirements, and will maintain the new applications, once the conversion is completed. The incumbent will provide input for the preparation of project plans and schedules, as well as recommendations for the databases, data security and resource requirements for the conversion project while maintaining the current production applications and systems. After the migration, the incumbent will develop, implement and maintain the Web based applications, some of which are used by the Student Records System and IT Services. The incumbent will participate in the design and development, and will document and implement new online reports and will provide technical and operational support for all the systems including several Web sites and databases. S/he will help with creating test plans and will work with campus teams on testing various applications. At any given time, the incumbent will need to work on several ongoing projects simultaneously. Some projects will be extremely complex involving multiple external departments such as Student Affairs IT, IT Services, Undergraduate Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Accounting and Cash Management. The incumbent is expected to participate in discussions with internal departments and outside organizations and assist in the development of complex applications. Meetings will include both technical and nontechnical personnel. The incumbent is expected to work with the Information Systems Director to set priorities and work in coordination with the team to meet the goals and deadlines set by the Director. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm function checkForSelectedStatus(){ return true;} Qualifications for Position 21 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred Demonstrated experience in data and process modeling and software design. Required Demonstrate project development experience and programming skills in ASP.NET C# MVC and MSSQL. Required Working knowledge of SQL to create complex online and offline reports using extensive datasets. Required Ability to independently create or identify software designs that use standard methods, technical best practices, have strong controls (security and audit) that will result in maintainable, extensible, and understandable code that meets design and coding standards, legal requirements and architectural, technical requirements. Required Demonstrated skill in completing easily maintainable code by scheduled deadlines that meets functional and technical requirements. Required Experience in programming Web modules/applets. Required Understanding of cross-platform and browser compatibility issues and the ability to develop Web modules sensitive to these issues. Required Excellent organizational skills and the ability to establish concept designs and final product for projects in a timely manner. Required Understanding and ability necessary to optimize code for use on the Web. Required Experience writing standards compliant HTML and DHTML and experience using CSS. Required Ability to follow project plans and schedules only with general guidelines from management and skill in estimating time and effort required for tasks and projects. Required Ability to work with frequent interruptions and distractions to meet deadlines. Required Ability to work independently and with minimal direction. Required Ability to ensure the security and integrity of all data, software, and systems resources. Required Interpersonal skills to interact effectively and cooperatively with unit staff, colleagues, administrators and campus technology and services units. Required Writing skills to compose text and system documentation that conveys information clearly and concisely. Required Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis to help others understand the concepts and implementation of software packages and hardware. Required Interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively and patiently with a diverse group of staff in a one-on-one or group setting. Required Knowledge of campus mainframe databases and technologies involving student billing and receivables, student information and course enrollment, financial aid, financial data, and payroll is a plus. Preferred Demonstrated programming skills
in the following: Java/JSP/JavaScript/JQuery, PHP, MS Access. Preferred Demonstrated experience in testing and debugging large and complex applications and systems including the preparation of detailed test plans and the performance of end-to-end testing.
