This individual will research, analyze, and formulate recommendations on industry best practices and new ways to leverage technologies as well as possess a determination to evolve and grow skill sets in response to the volatile web environment. The Senior Web Developer will report to the Digital Technology Manager and will assist in supervising a team of full time (Front/back end Web Developers) and part time staff (student developers and freelance contractors).

This individual must have extensive experience with PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery to create and maintain static and dynamic content within a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) environment. The Senior Web Development will have experience with Laravel PHP framework, React JS - experience with package/build tools such as Grunt, Gulp, NPM, Webpack are a plus. The Senior Web Developer will also be fluent with mobile design and development including responsive design and mobile-first stylings; development integration with APIs in platforms that include, but not limited to, Google Maps, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. This individual will be responsible for working and developing within content management systems such as WordPress and Drupal; have strong understanding of user experience (UX) and accessibility (WCAG guidelines), as well as proficiency with information architecture (IA), design principles, form design and grid layouts. The Senior Web Developer will work and translate design layouts within Photoshop into HTML, CSS and JavaScript, establish and follow organized processes for monitoring and updating code and perform tasks using Git versioning control system and JIRA issue tracking system.

Additional duties will include, but are not limited to, meeting with clients and creating and developing websites; mobile, email and web applications; proposing and implementing incremental improvements based on web traffic analysis and industry trends; and working collaboratively with a cross-functional team comprised of web designers, social media, writers, editors, print designers and other marketing team members, to design and develop appropriate website content. Required 2.Expert knowledge and experience of Apache, PHP programming, JavaScript, CSS/SASS and MySQL/phpMyadmin database. Required 3.Expert knowledge and experience programming AJAX/JS Promises and third party API's including, but not limited to, Google Maps, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Required 4. Broad understanding of technical issues including server and operating system environments as they relate to web site operation such as security, reliability and scalability. Required 5. Experience working in an Agile Environment and strong understanding of software development lifecycle. Required 8.Knowledge of user experience (UX), accessibility, information architecture (IA), design principles, form design and grid layouts. Required 9.Ability to translate original or provided design composites or mockups to current W3C and WCAG standards-compliant code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript (React) and AJAX and PHP. Required 10.Demonstrated strong communication and presentation skills with ability to convey technical and non-technical information to persons of varying backgrounds, technical expertise and levels of authority as well as communicate effectively on a regular basis with team members and with clients on job progress. Required 11.Ability to prioritize assignments and work efficiently in a complex environment involving rapidly changing priorities, heavy workloads, physical disruptions and highly fluid authority structures and demonstrate experience in helping lead and manage web projects. Required 12.Ability to recommend, coordinate and communicate functional page descriptions and navigational direction to ensure that designs achieve communications objectives. Required 13.Skill in interpreting a client's needs based on nature of project,
budget and objectives; ability to problem solve, make changes and corrections as they occur, and to offer appropriate solutions. Required 14.Experience with maintaining and customizing a CMS driven web site with Drupal 8 and/or WordPress with a willingness to explore working with and developing with content management systems. Preferred 15.Working knowledge of a major JS Framework such as React JS, Vue, and Angular. Preferred 16.Experience with a major PHP Framework such as Laravel, CodeIgniter, Zend, and Symphony. Preferred 17.Experience with collaboration tools such as JIRA issue tracking, Bitbucket/Git versioning, Trello, Invision, Basecamp. Preferred 18.Familiarity with traditional print and electronic design principles. Preferred 19.Demonstrated skill in graphics applications such as Photoshop and/or Sketch. Preferred 20.Ability to quickly identify and evaluate relevant new technologies; strong willingness to learn new technologies and experiment with Machine Learning and Serverless Architecture. Preferred 21.Ability to understand the aspect of complex, multi-level projects from initial definition through completion, including planning; establishing goals, objectives, and milestones; scheduling; tracking and evaluating. Preferred 22.Working knowledge of the University, its organization and structure, and the roles and responsibilities of various academic and administrative units in order to relate project needs to sound design communication solutions. Preferred 23.Bachelor's degree in computer science, design or related field.
