The Senior Associate Director of Employer Engagement position exists to manage Career Services' relationships with employers seeking to hire Princeton students, and to promote Princeton as a source of talented job and internship applicants. This person oversees all campus recruiting activities and strategically builds the number and quality of job and internship opportunities available to Princeton students in a wide range of fields. Reporting to the Director of Career Services, and serving as a key member of the career services senior leadership team, the person in this role must be an innovative leader providing strategic direction and management of all employer outreach efforts. The person in this role is responsible for developing and operationalizing a cohesive strategy to significantly expand employer relationships and provide an increasingly diverse array of meaningful connections for students with employers. This individual will lead a team of dedicated employer relations professionals.


Leadership and Management (50%)

  • Manage, train and ensure ongoing professional development for a team of 4-6 full-time and part-time employer relations, recruiting, and outreach professionals
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a strategic plan for employer outreach to build new relationships across a wide range of industries and fields based on student interests. Significantly increase the number of diverse employment and internship opportunities available for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Provide strategic leadership, supervision, and outcome evaluation to a team of cross-functional staff who develop meaningful career connections for undergraduate and graduate students through employer engagement programs
  • Establish and maintain relationships with a wide range of campus stakeholders and units (campus life, dean of the college, alumni association, development, academic departments, centers, etc.) to advance the agenda of connecting students to employment opportunities
  • Serve on and/or lead committees and task force groups to design, implement, and evaluate employer engagement programs
  • Set and oversee attainment of goals in creating a revenue stream based on employer engagement with Princeton.
  • In collaboration with the Finance, IT and Assessment team, manage the collection, reporting and projection of revenues/ fees associated with the recruiting program

Program Development (30%)
  • Manage a series of campus recruiting programs, career fairs and “Meet Up” events, Work closely with departmental teams to grow numbers of employers participating
  • Use job market trends and industry information on an ongoing basis to identify target employer organizations across key industry verticals
  • Oversee efforts to identify alumni and parents at target employer organizations to create a network of advocates for hiring Princeton applicants
  • Proactively ensure the use of a variety of outreach techniques to establish connections with employers
  • Systematically gather and distribute industry intelligence to inform outreach strategies and share with staff and students
  • Collaborate on the development of employer visibility and recruitment initiatives, such as information sessions, open houses, career fairs, meetups, and educational events
  • Develop and share print, web, social media, technology, and mobile resources relevant to industries and opportunities for students

Direct Student Service (10%)
  • Meet individually or in groups with students to provide coaching and advising to help students clarify values, interests, skills, and strengths
  • Assist students with the development of action plans and follow-up strategy

Reporting and Analysis (10%)
  • Lead assessment efforts, data compilation and analysis to identify and report job market trends, outreach outcomes, impact on student opportunities for internships and full-time employment, and net increase in employer relationships across each industry vertical
  • Create narrative reports and presentations for senior leadership and advisory boards, which identify and articulate program impact
  • Use data to drive decision-making with an eye toward continuous improvement


  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years successful experience in managing campus recruiting programs in a university setting
  • Comfort with change, ambiguity, and risk in a fast pace environment
  • Exceptional organizational leadership and communication abilities
  • Proven record in developing cohesive teams, managing performance and productivity, strategic planning, and contributing to organizational leadership
  • Demonstrated passion and experience in cultivating connections, program planning and execution, group facilitation and engagement, and advising college students and alumni
  • Experience in building employer relationships and implementing innovative solutions to ensure representation from a diverse range of career fields
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to build effective relationships
  • Experience in working with and supporting underrepresented populations, and deep commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion goals
  • Experience managing complex employer relationships in a university setting
  • Ability to track, monitor and analyze data to show results
  • Experience using career office management software, preferably with Handshake
