	Position Summary:
	The SILP Operations Assistant works closely with the program's Associate Director and other Language & Professional Programs staff to manage operational processes for SILP. This person serves as a key link between the program administration and student body and therefore needs to demonstrate a passion for working with people and for cultivating excitement about language learning. The position requires approximately 15 hours of work per week from January to May and approximately 20 hours of work per week from June to August. 	Responsibilities
	Essential Functions:
	Before summer session (January to May):
	• Manage the program's social media presence for admitted students
	• Respond to admitted student inquiries about housing, payments, and other concerns
	• Update program documents (e.g., orientation materials, student handbook)
	• Assist in ordering materials for the program
	• Coordinate logistics for program events
	• Help design new program events
	• Assist the Marketing and Admissions Manager with student application process
	During summer session (June to August):
	• Coordinate all logistics for program events like the orientation, trivia nights, career workshops with CIA and CACS, and closing ceremony
	• Stimulate interest in program events
	• Write a report detailing successes and challenges in role, in addition to workflow recommendations
	General Responsibilities:
	• Occasionally respond to general inquiries
	• Assist the Associate Director, Marketing and Admissions Manager, and Operations Manager with any projects that arise
	Qualifications
	Education:
	• B.A. or M.A. in language teaching, international education management, or a related field preferred
	Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
	• Demonstrated record of coordinating projects and/or programs with extensive logistical demands
	• Excellent writing and communication skills
	• Capacity to prioritize and organize work requests and projects, often under pressure
	• Attention to detail and record keeping skills
	• Skilled command of English grammar and spelling
	• Experience working with social media platforms
	• Advanced computer skills to include word processing, email and database management (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, G Suite like Sheets and Docs)
	• Ability to use common office equipment such as telephones, printer, and copier
	Experience:
	• Demonstrated interest in working with language students
	• Demonstrated commitment to working with the program through August 2019
	• Experience working on an administrative team preferred
	• Experience working with people of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds preferred
	Physical Demands:
	The Middlebury Institute maintains a smoke-free/drug-free workplace. This job requires ability to sit for extended periods of time, ability to handle lightweight parcels and supplies, and dexterity for repetitive action such as keyboarding, writing.
