Operations Center Senior Analyst               (Req. 29300)

Under the direction of the Director of Energy Services and Building Controls, this position provides support to field technicians, energy engineers, and management, in identifying and correcting issues pertaining to, but not limited to, campus environmental controls and systems, utilities, project support, energy conservation, and warranty administration. The Operation Center Senior Analyst will utilize the campus building automation system (BAS), fault detection/analytics (FD/A) platform, metering platform, and Maximo (CMMS). The position requires constant interaction with Facilities Management staff and the campus community.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in the HVAC industry.
  • Working knowledge of function and operation for various types of HVAC equipment, including large and small tonnage chilled water systems, air handling, and distribution equipment, steam, and hot water heating equipment, hot and chilled water distribution systems, and compressed air systems.
  • Skill in analyzing information concerning efficient and economical operation of heating, ventilation, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment in order to create reports and/or make recommendations.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, customers, visitors and outside agencies.
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
  • Oral communication skills to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information. Skill in reading technical instructions related to the trade in order to comprehend written work instructions, equipment operating instructions, and/or other documents related to the job functions. Basic writing skill sufficient to complete forms and job status reports that are accurate and easy to comprehend.
  • Working knowledge of mathematical principles sufficient to understand and apply basic industry formulas.
  • In order to collect equipment data and better understand field conditions must be able to stand, crawl, walk and stoop; push, pull and lift or lower objects weighing up to 30 lbs. with or without accommodation. Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in wet or humid weather, and in fluctuating and/or extreme temperatures. Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions: e.g. dirty, noisy, etc. Ability to work in confined spaces. Ability to distinguish among colors.
  • Must possess CA Driver's License, Class C and ability to drive a University truck or other light vehicle in the course of duties.
  • Ability to work overtime and/or weekends.
  • Demonstration of substantive knowledge and experience working on HIV/AIDS law and policy issues.
