Professor Of Practice - Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University invites applications to fill a full-time Professor-of-Practice position in Mechanical Engineering to begin May 2019. The position will be responsible for coordinating senior design projects and teaching course topics such as machine design, kinematics of machines, senior design, and other mechanical engineering related courses. The position will be appointed with a one-year contract, renewable annually. Primary duties include procuring and coordinating industry sponsored projects for the senior design course, teaching courses, and actively contributing to core graduate and undergraduate teaching missions of the Department. While the appointment is sought for the full-time position part-time position may be available.


The successful candidate must possess a Ph.D. degree or possess a Master's degree with at least 10 years of teaching/research/industrial experience in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with potential to work in collaboration with colleagues in Mechanical Engineering as a teacher as well as a researcher.

The candidate must have the leadership and communication skills and good professional network to attract businesses to sponsor projects, and to motivate over 50 students per class in a dynamic, interactive environment.
