Position Summary: This position is a managerial position to oversee technical support personnel responsible for the security, upkeep, and improvements, and disaster recovery preparedness for all on-premise, servers, storage, networking, and enterprise level application management as well as hosted solutions. It includes management of technical personnel overseeing administrative information systems and processes utilized in the the day to day operations of the Office of Academic Affairs, Diagnostic Laboratories, and Veterinary Medical Complex. Provides leadership and direction for Applications Support Teams and Infrastructure Teams. Responsible for key storage, server, and network assets in addition to our key hosted and third party hosted application suites. The role will involve working with faculty, staff, IT professional staff, and students throughout the academic cycles. It demands a professional, competent, and team oriented individual capable of critical analysis and meeting challenging deadlines. This is a position of trust often dealing with sensitive information whereby all applicable University, State, and Federal practices, policies, and regulations must be adhered to without exception.
Responsibilities: Provide strategic leadership and input related to the adoption of new Applications and Infrastructure technologies designed to improve and enhance service to our clients and the devices we manage on their behalf. Plan and monitor work, system reliability, and uptime in the context of the IT Services unit vision. Provide strategic management of objectives of Application and Infrastructure unit and its assigned service and system management tasks related to key application support as well as underlying virtual server and storage solutions. Recommend technologies and propose projects to meet client business objectives. Identify IT opportunities for customers and communicate requirements to campus resources, IT suppliers and vendor partners. Maintain a strong liaison presence between the College of Veterinary Medicine and UGA technical communities assuring that the unique and necessary interests of the college are considered and accounted for as changes and improvements are made to enterprise campus systems.
