Job Summary:

Maintains software applications and services that support the operational requirements and goals for the College's ERP system (Ellucian's Banner) and other related systems. In a team environment, the Banner Analyst is responsible for the maintenance of existing and the investigation and implementation of expanded Banner Finance and Human Resources modules, including understanding and assessing supplemental, related non-Banner software applications. The Banner Analyst will be an extremely active partner and application / process visionary who strives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of business operations by assisting Finance and Human Resources in using Banner to streamline business processes and better utilize Banner, as well as with issue troubleshooting and error resolution.

Essential Functions:
Banner & Related Applications Support
Focusing on support primarily, but not exclusively, of the College’s Finance and Human Resources functions.
1. Plans to continuously develop in-depth understanding of features and functions of Banner within the assigned functional areas and broad understanding of Banner capabilities in general through self-study, attendance at conferences, seminars, workshops, and webinars.
2. Understands user business processes and Banner and related supporting applications and determine how to improve functional effectiveness and efficiency through improved use of technology. Develops project plans to improve weaknesses in the functionality of Banner and related supporting applications, including migration from supporting application to Banner, as warranted.
3. In coordination with users, understands and sets up system rules to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and institutional requirements.
4. Responsible for ensuring that College’s financial reporting tool (currently Cognos Excel Café) is operational.
5. Acts as liaison with assigned functions and IT staff to design, plan, configure, and implement technology solutions to address functional needs.
6. Writes, translates, and reviews applications to meet evolving specifications. Diagnoses and recommends solutions for application issues.
7. Resolves issues with Banner and related supporting applications through research, testing, communication with Ellucian, etc.
8. Tests, approves, coordinates, and installs Banner upgrades and patches.
9. Assists in developing and maintaining IT and user process documentation.
10. Develops and maintains training materials and train users on Banner and related application functionalities (existing and newly implemented or developed).

General IT Operations
As part of the IT team:
1. Fields incoming Help Desk tickets to resolve application and software issues. Liaises with other IT resources to assist in resolving problems with software products or systems.
2. Recommends, schedules, and performs software upgrades and implementations.
3. Proactively manages changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
4. Designs, runs, and monitors performance tests on software programs to correct errors and identify areas for improvement.
5. Provides written reports to project managers and other on the status of projects and initiatives.
6. Actively serves on IT and other committees, as assigned.
7. Actively supports and participate in cross training.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Under the supervision of the Manager, ERP, the Banner Analyst maintains software applications and services that support the operational requirements and goals for the College’s ERP system (Ellucian’s Banner) and other related systems.

Job Specifications:
Associate’s degree in computer science or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field highly preferred. Five or more years of experience in an IT related field required. Three or more years of experience in higher education required; experience in IT in higher education highly preferred. Special consideration will be given to those with experience with Banner, Cognos, VB.NET programming, and Data Analytics. Knowledge of processes and regulations related to finance and human resources strongly desired. Experience developing procedural documentation and training materials preferred. Proven communication, active listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills required.

Grade: 9
Salary Range: $58,968 - $69,638

Lake Michigan College is located in southwestern Michigan, approximately 90 minutes from Chicago and 40 minutes from South Bend, Indiana.
