The division of University Advancement (UA) includes four major areas: Development, Advancement Services, Alumni Relations, and the Career Development Center. As a part of UA’s senior leadership team, the Executive Director’s (ED) role is to leverage UA’s strategic and comprehensive work with internal constituents (the three colleges and other programs) to achieve their most critical strategic priorities. This position reports to the Vice President for University Advancement and will work closely will all program directors in the division.

Essential Functions:
1. Serves as a strategic relationship manager for University Advancement programs and its internal constituents, primarily Bucknell’s three colleges and athletics, to maximize results for their advancement (development, career development, alumni relations) objectives. Key activities include but are not limited to:
- Fundraising for constituent priorities
- Increasing career opportunities for students
- Aligning communications to external and internal constituents
- Maximizing travel and engagement opportunities for constituent leaders
- Leveraging events for strategic purposes
- Strategic volunteer engagement, including boards
- Tracking outcomes
2. Designs and manages processes to track progress towards programmatic objectives.
3. Communicates ongoing forecasting and tracking updates toward achievement of constituent objectives.
4. Partners with UA liaisons to develop and execute a comprehensive development strategy for events, campus visitors, career opportunities, and volunteer and donor engagement, including academic dean and athletic director travel.
- Partners with Career Development Center and Alumni Relations teams to aggressively pursue career networking for students and engagement opportunities for alumni.
5. Strives to leverage on and off campus events for increased strategic engagement. fundraising and career opportunities by leading and organizing follow up efforts, including assigning tasks and deadlines in order to maximize return on investment.
6. Identifies, prioritizes, and communicates to all UA staff funding opportunities, in partnership with Directors of Advancement Marketing and Strategy and Stewardship & Donor Relations. Stores and updates relevant information in a timely manner. Works with Development Directors and others to schedule training around these priorities.
7. Identifies, prioritizes and communicates to UA staff opportunities to increase career opportunities and alumni engagement for constituent programs.
8. Leverages data in Blackbaud CRM to strengthen data and information across advancement and constituent programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree
* Five or more years of fundraising experience
* Five or more years of experience working and managing in complex organizations, including collaborating across departments/divisions
* Demonstrated track record of strong organizational and project management skills
* Demonstrated proficiency working within a CRM
* Five or more years of experience effectively managing and influencing volunteers and employees in pursuit of established objectives
* Demonstrated experience building relationships
* Demonstrated success in using metrics to achieve performance goals
* Demonstrated understanding of broad higher education development needs and trends and an understanding of how all the areas of University Advancement work together.
* Excellent communication skills
* Self-motivation, creativity, problem solving, data-driven decision making

Other Requirements:
This position requires occasional evening and weekend work to support University Advancement’s signature events including significant blocks of time during the weekend events. This also requires a commitment to attend/participate in on-campus and off-campus events/activities outside of normal business hours as appropriate. This position can require some occasional overnight travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Fundraising projections and prospect forecasting experience
* Personal Solicitation Experience in a higher ed setting
* Demonstrated record of leading successful programs and/or projects
* Experience managing through a fundraising campaign
