Eastern Washington University's College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics, and its Department of Mathematics invite applications to fill one full-time Lecturer position in Mathematics to begin September 2019.

The primary responsibility will be to teach lower division mathematics, possibly including developmental mathematics courses. Faculty hired to teach developmental mathematics may have an opportunity to serve a term as Director of the Developmental Mathematics Program. This Directorship rotates among the faculty.

Candidates must demonstrate ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is sensitive to diverse needs, including universal access, of the students, faculty, administrators and external contacts.

This is an ongoing faculty line with the rank of Lecturer. The candidate hired into the position will receive a one-year renewable contract. Appointment for additional years is dependent on program need, availability of funding, and evidence of successful teaching during your initial appointment at Eastern Washington University.

Required Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field. Candidates with a graduate degree in Mathematics Education or related fields are required to have successfully completed graduate coursework in modern algebra and analysis;
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Equivalence to two years of full-time secondary or post-secondary teaching experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • The ability to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching, including collaboration and curriculum development efforts;
  • Interest and qualifications to teach a wide range of mathematics courses ranging from Developmental Mathematics to Calculus;
  • Prior teaching experience in college-level mathematics.
