Description:
The Library Specialist II, under general supervision, provides general customer service and standard or routine library functions related to various specialized disciplines. Performs standard library functions in one or more library units. Under supervision, learns intermediate and more advanced library functions.

Responsibilities:
  • Load vendor-supplied bibliographic record batches into the online library management system.
  • Complete cataloging process for books with vendor-supplied records, including the following procedures: verify match between the bibliographic record and physical item(s); edit the bib. record as necessary; create item records; and perform authority control. Work with various vendor-related workflows.
  • Perform LC copy cataloging with authority control of books and materials. Requires concentration and attention to detail.
  • Perform complex copy cataloging (non-LC) with authority control of books and materials, including media items. Consult with the Cataloging Services Coordinator/Librarian as needed.
  • Process withdrawn materials in all formats.
  • Generate library holdings reports from the library management system in support of university program reviews.
  • Assist the Cataloging Services Coordinator/Librarian as a back-up, assistant trainer, providing cross-training to library staff for LC copy cataloging and the processing of books with vendor-supplied bibliographic records.
  • Assist with maintaining integrity of the online catalog with edits/updates as needed. Maintain statistics and provide monthly reports of work-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Additional education may be used as a substitution for the minimum experience requirements.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or higher.
  • Experience working in a library.
  • Experience with a library automated system.

Pay range:
  • $11.50 - $13.86 Hourly
