The Academic Enhancement Center (AEC) Math Coordinator will assist in the daily operations of the Center. The position will support the Center by providing various effective and engaging learning experiences using innovative methods and technology. Specifically, the position will prepare math tutors to develop and implement tutoring strategies that support students on all levels, in all disciplines, and at all points in the math process.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with the daily operations of the Academic Enhancement Center (AEC)
  • Hire, onboard, supervise, schedule and evaluate daily duties of tutors and AEC student assistants
  • Create and organize initial and ongoing training and other professional development opportunities for tutors and AEC student assistants
  • Organize, schedule, and promote academic workshops
  • Assist in the update of the Center’s website (posting operating hours, workshops, etc.)
  • Maintain mail lists, emergency call lists, faculty volunteer lists, etc.
  • Advise the Director of AEC on budget initiatives and allocations
  • Solicit faculty volunteers and maintain faculty sign-in list for tracking and reporting tutoring hours Maintain and report data from TutorTrac (e.g., sign-in records and student evaluations)

  • Monitor computers and other technology; report problems to the Helpdesk as needed
  • Maintain an inventory of books and other resources on hand
  • Perform other duties as assigned
SalaryCommensurate with education and experience with excellent benefits. Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related field
  • Three years of previous experience coordinating a tutoring center
  • Three years of previous supervisory experience
  • Three years of demonstrated strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of tutoring pedagogy
  • Four or more years of experience coordinating a tutoring center
  • Experience teaching math at the college level

  • Sensitivity, respect, and understanding for all college students, diverse populations, perspectives, and learning styles
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work non-standard work hours (e.g. evenings, weekends, etc.)

Physical Requirements

Position may require local travel. Ability to work non-standard work hours (e.g. evenings, weekends, etc.) Ability to lift and carry files and materials.
