Job FieldThe Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) at the University of Toronto invites applications for a tenure stream appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in Occupational and Environmental Health in exposure science, focusing on the measurement and characterization of inhalation exposures in the workplace and/or community that contribute to human disease. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2019, or shortly thereafter.

We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and strengthen our existing strengths. Areas of research expertise could include but are not limited to: exposures to biological, chemical, physical agents, exposomics, or ecosystem health (e.g., One Health). Candidates must: 1) possess an earned PhD, MD, DVM or equivalent doctoral degree in the physical or life sciences, engineering, or public health (postdoctoral or equivalent experience is an asset); 2) show an outstanding record of research excellence and academic achievement in their specific area of quantitative field- or laboratory-based research; 3) present evidence of success and productivity in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment; 4) demonstrate excellence in teaching related to public health science. 
Research excellence will be demonstrated by publications in leading, peer-reviewed journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees of high standing.
Evidence of teaching excellence will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier including a teaching statement, sample course syllabi, and teaching evaluations submitted as part of the application, as well as strong letters of reference. 
The successful candidate will be expected to initiate and lead an outstanding, independent, innovative, externally funded research program of international calibre and contribute to the teaching programs of the School. 
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health, which began as one of four Rockefeller Foundation-supported Schools of Hygiene in 1927, and in 2013 became a standalone faculty of Public Health, is a regional and global leader in public health education, research and service, with the largest concentrations of academic population and public health researchers in Canada. The DLSPH has a rich history of research and training. The DLSPH is making major contributions in areas such as chronic disease, infectious disease, and genetic epidemiology; public health policy; social determinants of health and social epidemiology; global health; addictions; occupational and environmental health; and biostatistics methodological research. Research and training are conducted in a trans-disciplinary environment with collaborators throughout the University, such as its top-rated schools of medicine, nursing, engineering, law, and business; with closely affiliated government agencies; and with a wide range of global partners. The DLSPH has recently begun an ambitious program of expansion and new initiatives in the health of cities and communities, global health equity and innovation, and the integration of public health with primary care, with scholarship in occupational and environmental health playing a key role.
