Metropolitan College of New York (MCNY), an innovative, non-profit college that provides a uniquely effective model of Purpose-Centered Education, seeks a Development Associate to work in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer to expand fundraising capacity in support of the college and our students.

The Development Associate position is a unique opportunity to be an integral part of a team that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of adult students. The successful candidate, who will come with experience in higher education or another non-profit development setting, will work collaboratively to support the success of the development program.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
The ideal candidate for this position will have 1 or more years of relevant experience in a college, university or other non-profit development office with established annual fund, major gifts, grants, and alumni affairs or donor programs. The candidate will have experience and a strong familiarity with all types of donors including individuals, foundations, and alumni; gift entry and processing; and donor relations/stewardship.
They will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; exceptional time management and organizational skills; the ability to manage priority projects simultaneously; the ability to work on projects independently or collaboratively as part of a team; a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, donor database/CRM systems and general research tools; strong interpersonal skills; a strong work ethic and positive attitude; and a passion and commitment for our mission.
A Bachelor’s degree is required. This position might require occasional night and weekend work related to donor events.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Associate will be responsible for gift entry; maintaining the development calendar and accurate database records; assistance with donor and alumni relations, stewardship, and prospect research; tracking funding requests and results; assistance in preparation for donor or alumni meetings; providing support for events as needed as well as performing other duties as assigned.
