Job Details

The Director will be responsible for the Center for People in Transition funding including grant writing, budgets, reports, activities and staff supervision. Case management of clients on issues concerning bereavement, NJ Divorce, court coaching and proceedings, finances and social services.

Examples of Duties:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive plan for the Center based on Center's mission and strategic plan.
  • Complete and submit annual grant applications for current funders. Fully and accurately complete quarterly, midyear and end of year reports meeting funding deadlines utilizing qualitative and quantitative analyses.
  • Expand Center services by pursuing additional grant awards that provide funding for programs that are compatible with the Center's mission to serve displaced homemakers.
  • Develop outreach materials and activities that identify and recruit Center clients.
  • Develop, chair and maintain a Center Advisory Board.
  • Build and maintain collaborations with Host Agency (College), local agencies, businesses and legislative offices.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate Center staff.
  • Act as liaison between the Host Agency (College) and external funders.
  • Develop and oversee Center's budgets
  • Serve as Center's representative for speaking engagements for funders, social service agencies, businesses, state and legislative offices. 
  • Disseminate information on NJ Divorce to clients including but not limited to separation, divorce, post-divorce, custody, parenting and support.
  • Refer clients to community resources such as food, utility and housing assistance.
  • Serve on college committees as well as agency boards involved in the lives of displaced homemakers.
  • Organize, implement and evaluate Life Skills workshops that address the various needs of clients.
  • Participate in meetings, events, showcases, and other activities that are sponsored by funders, collaborators and Host Agency (College).
  • Performed related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree required.  Human Services/Human Resources preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years counseling experience with women in need of services, particularly displaced homemakers, due to separation, divorce, domestic violence, disability and death of spouse,
  • In depth knowledge of NJ divorce, court coaching and proceedings, domestic violence issues, and its impact
  • Experienced in state, local, nonprofit grant writing and reporting utilizing program logic models
  • Extensive knowledge of finance, e.g. budget development, monitoring and reporting
  • Knowledgeable in community, social, county and state services
  • Experience in conducting intakes and client case management, including planning & facilitating workshops
  • Familiar with women's issues such as domestic violence / stay at home moms returning to the workforce / negatives effects of divorce, etc.
  • Experience working with unemployed or underemployed population
  • Ability to interact positively and confidentially with a diverse population, including those experiencing stressful life changes
  • Excellent organizational, time management  and communication skills
  • General knowledge of career inventories
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, NJ State Software, Banner
  • Must be available to work days, nights and weekends depending on clients and funders needs
  • Must be available to travel throughout New Jersey to attend monthly meetings with the use of personal vehicle
