Job description

Under the direction of the Budget/Finance Director, the Student Accounts Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective organization and operation of all functions of the billing, collection, deposit, disbursement and record maintenance of student accounts across the college.  This includes overseeing tuition and fees, bill payment, sponsored billing, and tax credits; and coordinating activities of accountants engaged in collection of overdue payments from students.  The Student Accounts Manager provides direct administrative support, oversight, communications coordination, and data on a broad range of issues that are sensitive, confidential and/or complex in nature. Duties are performed at a fully-operational level, using either established standard guidelines and/or procedural methods, or improvising solutions and alternatives. 

Prerequisites for the Position:

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position, such as a Bachelor’s Degree and three years of related experience; an Associate’s Degree and five years of related experience; or equivalent education and experience.

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.  Strong background in computers and technology including experience with standard Microsoft Office software, particularly Excel.  Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines; perform accurate, detail-oriented calculations, utilize automated computer programs, and prepare financial reports and spreadsheets.  Willingness to learn, and ability to research and effectively analyze data.  Proficient at balancing a strong focus on details with an understanding of larger college issues and impacts; works independently towards established goals and deadlines.

Must be able to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships within the office, with college staff, and with external contacts.  It is essential for the successful candidate to be able to handle challenging customers and/or situations in a professional, composed and effective manner.
