The College and the District:
Cañada College, which was designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution in approximately 2000, is part of the San Mateo County Community College District, which currently enrolls approximately 23,000 students, the majority of whom are from minoritized populations. Of the students at Cañada College, 3.0% are African-American, 0.1% are American Indian, 11.1% are Asian, 3.7% are Filipino, 36.8% are Latinx, 1.4% are Pacific Islander, 25.8% are White, 15.1% are Multi-Ethnic, and 2.9% are unknown.

Under direction, the Program Services Coordinator assists in the planning, coordination, and implementation of the International Education Program, such as recruitment, international admissions, international orientation, SEVIS and immigration advising, registration, student support, special events, tours, individual and specialized programs. Public contact is extensive and can include domestic and international students, staff, foreign-based individuals and educational institutions, community and business representatives, governmental agencies and the general public, for the purpose of exchanging program information and services. A high degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to adequately represent the college and program, to serve as a technical resource person for the program, and to design original program components and services. Consequences of errors in judgment can be costly; however, management controls limit the risk of more serious consequences. The Program Services Coordinator can lead the work of student assistants, proctors, and other staff as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all of the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position. 1. Exchanges information with students, staff, other educational institutions, community and business representatives, vendors, governmental agencies and the general public regarding a variety of college programs, services, eligibility requirements, policies, timelines, required forms, and other information
2. Travels to various off-site locations to confer with partner schools, community service organizations, governmental agencies, businesses and other entities to recruit students into the International Education Program. International travel not required, but opportunities may be available
3. Makes presentations to small and large groups as a program and college representative
4. Participates in planning and implementation meetings with college and outside groups and representatives
5. Plans, conducts, and participates in tours, education fairs, and program services in conjunction with management, faculty, and other staff
6. Coordinates logistics and establishes timelines, required materials, online support services, facilities, publicity, and other program and event needs
7. Develops procedures, in coordination with District-wide team, as needed to streamline processes and follow governmental guidelines
8. Ensures timely and accurate responses to inquiries and the processing of paperwork, applications, and SEVIS documentation
9. Plans joint events with other college departments and programs, and with outside business and community representatives
10. Serves as liaison between student program participants and various instructional and student services departments
11. Interprets information on student forms and printed information
12. Refers students to community, business, governmental, and other resources
13. Conducts follow-up to determine student needs and available program services
14. Directs and coordinates the work of student assistants, test proctors, and other staff as assigned
15. Coordinates the admissions process for incoming international students, verifying eligibility and processing applications, I-20 documents, following SEVIS and all government requirements
16. Refers students to transfer and other counselors, instructional programs and to other college offices as appropriate, following college and program protocols and guidelines
17. Researches and compiles statistical, narrative, financial, demographic and other data for regular and special reports to track program participation, recruitment effectiveness, student follow-up, retention and transfer rates, program evaluation criteria, career resources and job availability, employer profiles, and other information
18. Enters, modifies and retrieves online data
19. Uses a variety of software to compose, format and prepare correspondence, memoranda, publicity materials, surveys, brochures, flyers, bulletins, reports, presentations, and other materials
20. Sets up and maintains confidential and other files
21. Plans and coordinates lay-out, graphics, photography and other artwork, editing, printing, multimedia enhancements, web page information, distribution and other services in conjunction with other staff, students and/or vendors as appropriate
22. Performs other related duties as assigned
• A combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, sociology, education, international studies, or a closely related field• Successful experience of increasing responsibility in international education, student services, or a related area• Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff• Experience with program planning, implementation, and evaluation• Experience with training and leading the work of others• Experience with research, formatting, assessment and preparation of data for reports and other materials• Experience with the use of a variety of computer software to track and monitor data• Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication, including public speaking• Demonstrated skill in multitasking, prioritizing workloads, and working independently• Demonstrated skill in working as part of a customer service team
This classification requires sitting for periods of time; the ability to type, use phone, occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects of light to moderate weight; work at a computer, including viewing a monitor for various lengths of time, repetitive use of keyboard, mouse or other control device, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard; and ability to operate a motor vehicle and drive to off campus locations in order to perform the essential functions.

Benefits include paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
