Position Summary:
Budget Office. Reporting to the Director of the Budget Office, the Budget Analyst develops, operates, and evaluates budgeting systems and reporting tools to ensure Georgia Southern University's official budget records are current and accurate to support the university's mission, strategic management initiatives, and leadership's vision.

Essential Functions

  • Develops the University's overall operating budget.
  • Processes salary merit worksheets, permanent budget amendments, balance funds, and analyzes self-sustaining revenue and expense budgets.
  • Prepares, justifies, monitors, and maintains departmental budgets and budget amendments for more complex self-sustaining budgets that are divisional budgets which include: Indirect, Tech fee, DSS, Auxiliary and Student Fee budget.
  • Develops and implements budgets; forecasts financial needs; processes and validates data flow through budget information systems.
  • Tracks, monitors, and analyzes data to ensure proper allocation.
  • Completes and submits monthly and quarterly budget reports.
  • Ensures all labor expense encumbrances are posted to the financial ledger.

    Bachelor’s Degree

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; legally authorized to work in the United States; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment.

    Preferred Education:
    Knowledge of the principles and practices of governmental budgeting, accounting and public finance

    Salary Range: $47,476
