Overview:
The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west. The area provides a wide array of outdoor amenities and activities with miles of hiking and biking trails, national parks, two lakes, and the Sacramento River.

Shasta College Chemistry faculty have an interest in evidence-based pedagogy and continuous quality enhancement. The department hopes that the successful candidate will likewise participate in the evaluation/assessment of instructional methods and student learning outcomes, and consistently work towards the improvement of both.
General Responsibilities
Under administrative leadership, it is the responsibility of the regular/contract college instructor to teach classes, and to participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, courses, and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the vision, mission, and values of the community college district. Proactive, prompt, and effective communication with students, peer faculty, administrators, and other District personnel are critical to high quality performance.
The selected candidate should expect to teach any chemistry courses currently offered as described in the Shasta College catalogue. Courses may be in face-to-face, interactive television, online, or hybrid modalities at any of the Shasta College locations (Redding, Tehama, Burney, or Weaverville). Shasta College faculty are expected to continue to develop professional skills and up-to-date educational and subject matter knowledge, potentially including participation in conferences and research activities.
CLASSIFICATION: Placement on the current Faculty Salary Schedule is commensurate with previous education and experience.
START DATE: This position is anticipated to start the beginning of the Fall 2019 semester.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:	
Master's in chemistry
OR
Bachelor's in chemistry or biochemistry
AND
Master's in biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical physics, physics, molecular biology or geochemistry
OR the equivalent.
Experience/interest in chemistry education / scholarship of teaching and learning is desirable.
Expertise in Material Science is desirable
