Two years of experience in one or more areas of Human Resources or in a related field. Experience in the area of staffing or recruitment would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of PositionPerforms responsible human resources specialist duties for assigned areas of Human Resources. Responsible for assigned personnel functions.
Primary ResponsibilitiesAccountable for the execution and follow through of complex and technical human resources responsibilities for the assigned functional areas of recruitment and staffing. Position also works with leaves administration and unemployment. May also assist with other areas of Human Resources to include: wage and salary administration; employee relations; insurance and retirement benefits; records; employee training and development. Maintains quality customer service for assigned functional area through accurate and timely processing of documents, emails, and phone calls. Provides Human Resource services to faculty and staff according to assigned area. Promptly and accurately responds to information requests. Prepares letters, reports, memos and correspondence when necessary. Provides assistance with policies and procedures as needed. Updates and maintains various databases and online systems. Provides guidance to faculty and staff within assigned area of responsibility. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other SpecificationsSkilled in completing forms, sending email, composing letters, preparing training material and reports. Daily contact and interaction with university departments, vendors, off campus agencies, staff, faculty, and student employees. Performs research and prepares analytical reports, together with recommendations, on assigned subjects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within department and across the university community. Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment.
Position includes occasional travel to conferences and job fairs.
