The Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer of the University Libraries and will lead the Libraries current and future efforts to cultivate scholars, students, and members of the public who are astute, critical users, and creators of information in all its forms. The Dean will join a group of fellow deans and campus leaders who are collaborative, supportive and committed. University Libraries:  With 45 faculty librarians, 80 support staff and 150 student employees the Libraries are home to wide-ranging unique collections, including agriculture, Great Plains history and literature, quilts, and the largest collection of Willa Cather materials in the world. The Libraries are deeply embedded in the day-to-day life of students, faculty and staff and serves as a welcoming space in the center of campus with 2,000 available seats in the Libraries, including a wide-variety of student friendly space, study rooms, computer labs, and a café. The dean is supported by a seasoned administrative team of seven direct reports. In the past several years, the Libraries have invested significantly in upgrading the physical spaces in the building to make them welcoming and comfortable, and this investment has paid off in terms of increased use. Additional large facilities projects are in various stages of planning. For more information, visit https://libraries.unl.edu/.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln:  As the flagship of the University of Nebraska system and a member of the prestigious Big Ten Conference and Big Ten Academic Alliance, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a land-grant institution, ranked in the top tier of national research universities and will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2019. Undergraduate and graduate enrollments have increased significantly, enhancing the academic quality and diversity of the student body. Nebraska has achieved significant research growth, nearly tripling research expenditures over the past two decades. The rich history and collaborative culture represented today present a significant opportunity to shape and guide the university's future.

Just as the University is the intellectual center of the state, the University Libraries is the intellectual heart of the campus and enjoys widespread support from University administration, faculty, staff and students. And, as is the rest of campus, the University Libraries is in a period of exciting change.
