Job Description

  • The Registered Nurse I, under general supervision, provides direct patient care, patient evaluations, and treatment in accordance with Professional Nursing Standards.

  • Assume responsibility for assigned area in clinic.
  • Provide direct patient care, patient evaluations, and treatment in accordance with Professional Nursing Standards.
  • Use the health care team approach to provide triage of patients, physical assessments, and treatments, including the administration of medication and therapy as directed.
  • Maintain and monitor patient records, assesses health care needs, and provides patient education.
  • Provide preventative education programs to students, such as residence life programs and student organization programs.
  • Supervise assigned staff.
  • Maintain inventory and requisition of medical supplies, medications, and equipment.
  • Maintain and operate the autoclave for sterilization of instruments/supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Registered Nurse.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Related work experience.
  • Have and maintain unencumbered licensed in the State of Texas.
  • Certified in CPR for healthcare providers.
  • Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience.
  • Experience working at a university health center clinic or acute care clinic.
  • Experience working with adult patients.

Special Notice:
  • This is a part-time 19 hours a week position that is non-benefits eligible.
  • The position will be for nine-months from 9/1/18 - 5/10/19.
