POSITION:                       ASSISTANT/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR- TENURE TRACK

JOB SUMMARY: The Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE) at New Jersey City University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty appointment at the assistant or associate professor level commencing with the fall 2019 semester. Anticipated start date September 1, 2019.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The department seeks a highly qualified candidate to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate early childhood education and human development courses and supervise student interns, as well as assume committee work, advisement, and college planning activities.

REQUIREMENTS: Three years working with children ages birth to eight and/ or an early childhood special education setting. Demonstration of an established research agenda and scholarly achievement as evidenced by published works in referred journals, presentations at professional meetings, receipt of research grants, etc.

EDUCATION: Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education or related field. Consideration will be given to candidates who will earn the terminal degree before September 1, 2019.

EXPERIENCE: Experience and/or demonstrated knowledge in early childhood education, methods and instructional approaches for young children. Experience teaching college-level early childhood courses on campus or online and blended formats.

PREFERRED: Experience and/or knowledge of partnerships with home/school/community agencies. Experience with diverse populations of students in urban schools. Knowledge of and ability to successfully work in college/university teacher preparation programs. Demonstrated ability to teaching online courses and ability to integrate technology into teaching. Ability/experience or strong interest in recruiting, advising, and mentoring students. P-3 or Elementary certification with Nursery endorsement. Experience with program and/or accreditation assessment. Knowledge of Federal/State legislative initiatives and standards. Recent experience working with infants/toddlers or grades 1-3. Experience working with teacher performance evaluations e.g., edTPA
