Overview

Have full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments for projects related to PPPL tritium and cryo systems. This involves in depth understanding of the subject area, ability to learn the existing systems, creativity and problem solving, attention to detail and confidence with codes and standards. Initiate and maintain extensive contacts with all stakeholders within and outside the Laboratory.

Responsibilities

Tritium systems

The role responsibilities include:
  • Learn the existing systems
  • Develop a plan for its removal, with increasing level of detail
  • Identify necessary controls and design those not yet available
  • Develop technical specifications and statements of work for the preparation and the execution of the removal
  • Develop and present technical reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Liaise with ES&H, QA and Procurement
  • Set and oversee tasks for subcontractors, if the plan requires these


Cryo systems

The role responsibilities include:
  • Learn the existing systems
  • Support the development (design, analysis input…) of further cryo systems
  • Develop technical specifications and statements of work
  • Develop and present technical reports to internal and external stakeholders
  • Liaise with ES&H, QA and Procurement


Qualifications

Required:
  • BS in Mechanical, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering, or similar degree.
  • More than 6-years'relevant experience, i.e. design, construction, installation, commissioning or decommissioning of gaseous chemical processing systems, preferably involving light gases.
  • Experience designing vacuum components and systems.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment.


Desirable:
  • MS in Mechanical, Nuclear or Chemical Engineering, or similar degree.
  • Radiological experience and qualifications.
  • Experience writing grants or proposals for DOE funding, or similar.
