PROJECT PLANNER II
Vice Chair Research

Occupational Summary: Apply project management knowledge, technical & interpersonal skills and project management tools and techniques to meet the project requirements of medium to large projects that are the coordinated activities of more than one functional group in Communications, Meetings and Events, and Faculty Research.

• Work with principal investigators (PIs) and provide scientific input for proposal preparation for funding opportunities.
• Oversee overall operations, research portfolio management and opportunity assessments for the department
• Provide project and operational management of funded research/training projects and internal initiatives.
• Work with data tables and maintain accurate and properly updated data inventories as well as provide assistance with writing scientific content/editing/reviewing grants.
• Serve in a research navigator function, building relationships and facilitating connections and collaboration among researchers, clinicians and administrative/operational leadership across the university and medical campuses.
• Help organize and participate in concept reviews for department faculty in order to provide scientific review of project specific aims.
• Mentor department research faculty, providing editing, suggestions and comments with respect to scientific premise, appropriateness of research plan to test hypotheses,writing style, clarity and organization.

Education

Bachelor's degree. Additional training in Project Management coursework or certification in Project Management is desired.

Experience

Four years of progressively responsible experience in project management, including complex projects involving multiple functional groups. Experience in medical education/publishing, clinical research, or medical product development is desired. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
