Bridgewater State University is the largest of nine state universities in Massachusetts with more than 11,000 students. It was founded in 1840 by Horace Mann and is the nation’s oldest stationary teacher-preparation institution. Bridgewater State University is a regional comprehensive university located in Southeastern Massachusetts. The mission of the Department of Elementary and Early Childhood Education is to prepare teacher candidates for their initial licensure in the fields of elementary education and early childhood education. At the graduate level, we offer a program for classroom practitioners to satisfy the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements for professional licensure at the elementary and early childhood levels. Our graduate programs also prepare experienced educators for positions as consultants and consulting teachers of reading.
Essential DutiesThe Department seeks practicum supervisors for students seeking licensure in both early childhood (grades preK-2) and elementary (grades 1-6) education.
Practicum supervision is needed in various areas around southeast Massachusetts and Cape Cod.
Applicants should possess:
- Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity.
- Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning.
- Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.
Training will be provided by the department at the Bridgewater campus.
Required QualificationsMasters degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field.
A minimum 3 years of K-6 classroom teaching
